Hill and Mountain Skills.

Mountain Training is the awarding body for skills courses and qualifications in walking, climbing and mountaineering in the UK and Ireland. Hayley Webb Mountain Adventures are providers of the nationally accredited Hill & Mountain Skills award scheme.

Walking in the hills is a great way to explore the outdoors, boost your confidence and get some exercise. It is being proven recently that it is a great help for those with mental health troubles too. We know that for people new to hill walking it can be an exciting and slightly daunting prospect which is why Mountain Training developed two courses designed to equip you with some basic knowledge and safety skills so that you can participate in more hill and mountain walking in your own time.

Discovering places and trying new adventures either by yourself or with friends is a wonderful part of outdoor recreation, our aim is to ensure you leave after two days with us feeling confident to build on your skills and have an amazing, exciting time in the incredible landscapes that the UK has to offer.

The Hill & Mountain Skills scheme is a great way to develop your personal skills and confidence in all elements of hill and mountain walking. From planning a coastal walk to navigating in complex terrain, these courses are an ideal opportunity to learn the basics and enjoy the countryside.

How will the day go?

This Hill Skills two-day course will be held on the rolling Northern fells of the Lake District. Instructed by Hayley Webb or Jules Buckley (both if numbers dictate), we will start indoors with brews, greetings and course structure. The day will then be outside for around 4/5 hours.
